Objects of Men's Shed
The objects of the Karrinyup Community Men’s Shed are:
- to promote the advancement of men’s health by preventing or alleviating social isolation.
- to create an inclusive environment for men to meet, create projects, learn, teach, and support each other, and enjoy the support of the working environment.
- for members to develop, redevelop or learn new skills which will enhance their self-esteem, and in turn provide a positive impact upon their lives, their family and the community.
These objects are set out in the Rules registered under the Associations Incorporations Act 2015
Our Men's Shed aims are:
- to enjoy each other's company, promote self-worth and work ethics, while developing and sharing skills for the benefit of both the individual and the community.
- enable men from many social and ethnic backgrounds to mix and learn. It's a place for men of all ages getting together, sharing fellowship and discovering the satisfaction of creation through the hands, and in turn changing the perception of the mind.
Access and Inclusion in the Shed - A Men's Health Initiative
This project was commenced in February 2020, when, with the support of a Connect Groups Grant, we retained the services of Occupational Therapist, Melissa Hitchcock of Yellow Door Therapy Services.
An email bulletin and Melissa's final report summarise the work of the project and the findings of the consultation period, with recommendations.
Annual General Meeting 2024
The 2024 AGM was held at 11am on Friday 27 September at the Shed.
Thirty financial members attended, plus the Mayor of the City of Stirling, Mark Irwin, and Councillor Teresa Olow.
The Shedder of the Year award was presented to Vince Pezzaniti for his "outstanding contribution and dedication to Karrinyup Men's Shed and the support of its objectives".
