Funding promised from WA State Government

WA Premier Mark McGowan and Member for Balcatta David Michael visited the Karrinyup Community Men's Shed on 8 January 2021 to formally announce that we will receive funding if the Labor Party is re-elected in March.

Media Release Friday, 8 January 2021 - Karrinyup Community Men's Shed to receive $15K boost under a re-elected McGowan Government

The Karrinyup Community Men's Shed will receive $15,000 towards a range of sustainability measures including a water bore, solar panels and electrical work under a re-elected McGowan Government.

The funding will also include $1500 for an instant hot water system for tea and coffee.

The facility, which is located in Balcatta, is an inclusive environment for men to meet, create projects, learn, teach, and support each other, and enjoy the support of the working environment.

Men's sheds are important community health initiatives that allow members to develop, redevelop or learn new skills which will enhance their self-esteem, and in turn provide a positive impact upon their lives, their family and the community.

Comments to be attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:

"Men's sheds are wonderful, inclusive places for men from all different ethnicities and social backgrounds to gather and learn."

"Importantly, they also provide an opportunity for men to continue to contribute in a positive way to their local community."

"Supporting initiatives such as the Karrinyup Community Men's Shed will help keep the local community safe and strong."

Comments to be attributed to Balcatta MLA David Michael:

"The Karrinyup Community Men's Shed in Balcatta is such an important part of the social fabric in our community and I am delighted to learn that a re-elected McGowan Labor Government will provide funds to bolster this facility."

"Installation of a water bore and solar panels will help the facility operate in an environmentally sustainable manner, while also saving money."

"This is just a fantastic boost for a facility that is an integral part of the local community."

===============================

This all started a couple of months ago when Balcatta MLA, David Michael, asked if we needed anything at the shed. We had a "wish list" so David put in a proposal on our behalf and was successful.

David Michael is our Local MLA and is very supportive.
